The Point

The challenge of this shot, was creating a fine art image using a modern well-maintined dock. This image pays tribute to the wonderful people of the community in which I live and work. This dock symbolizes memories for the dozens of families that come here seeking refuge from daily life. From the sun rises to the sunsets, this view offers a unique canvas below the rolling clouds on the broad river. Alone out on the point with the days light almost completely gone, the clouds broke open, shooting light onto the glowing dock as if it were a planned event. I watched as the water flowed with a glass like stillness as my composition came to life. Using a tripod and a long exposure and opening my aperture wide open, I was able to capture every ounce of light.
